Embrace Crap // Feb 27, 2017
I've heard a lot of artists worrying about what other artists are doing. Are they releasing stuff too often, is the quality too low? Does it reflect badly on me (because obviously no one assumes their work is the crap)?
It isn't worth it. You can't control anyone else. You *shouldn't* even try. A lot of people consider Twilight to be crap, but how horrid if that series was taken away? It started a lot of kids reading. Art is subjective.
Worry about yourself. Worry about making others feel safe to express themselves, and make art. Some art will be crap, but if you sit around so consumed with if it will be crap... you make nothing. Plus, you have to make a lot of crap to become good at anything. No one is exempt.
I have piles and piles of crap. I'm proud of my crap, because it made me a better artist.
Be a little more kind, and embrace crap. It's how we get gold.
BUSINESS // SEPTEMBER 1, 2016
Although my writing tends to stay on the darker side, my paintings are bright and whimsical. Watercolour and micron ink are my preferred mediums, although I've been known to dabble in oils and acrylics.
I enjoy painting fantasy scenes. Faeries, elves, and nymphs are recurring themes.
